Clinics & Services
Each member of the health care team provides specific services to our patients.
Doctors
In addition to providing general medical care, all of our GPs have their own specific interest.
Orthopaedics: Dr Akhtar and Dr Gabel offer joint injections.
Minor Ops clinic: Dr Akhtar now offers a monthly clinic for minor surgery.
Women's health and infertility: Dr Widders has an interest in women's health and infertility.
Diabetes: We aim to provide a comprehensive service to our diabetic patients. Dr Trueman and Dr Orlando Terreros are trained and experienced in the challenging task of managing this group of patients. They are supported by our practice nurses, Val and Sarah, who do annual diabetic checks and medication reviews, as well as our Healthcare Assistants who provide diabetic foot checks. Retinopathy screening is done by a mobile unit at the surgery, from time to time.
Advanced Nurse Practitioners
Our Nurse Practitioners are registered nurses who have undertaken masters degree level training in order to develop a knowledge base and clinical competencies to manage both acute and chronic medical conditions. They are qualified to assess and examine patients with undiagnosed illnesses, prescribe medication and make referrals for a wide range of medical conditions.
Nurses
Our three practice nurses provide a wide range of services. These include chronic disease management, and medication reviews for conditions like asthma, COPD, hypertension, diabetes and heart disease. They also do dressings, smears, childhood and travel vaccinations, and provide contraception advice.
Health Care Assistants
Our two health care assistants do phlebotomy (taking blood samples), BP and health checks, ECGs, Diabetic footchecks and some vaccinations like 'flu jabs. They are also involved in many "behind the scenes" activities which help the practice to function smoothly.
