Cervical Cancer Prevention Week
24th Jan

#CervicalCancerPreventionWeek!

HPV vaccination, cervical screening, and treatment for cell changes can all help prevent it but we need to increase awareness and uptake.
Get involved and share your stories and tips so that others feel less alone. Together #WeCan work towards a future where cervical cancer is a thing of the past.

Strep A & Scarlet Fever

❗️ Information on Strep A ❗️

We understand parents are worried about Strep A at the moment given the devastating news of 8 recent deaths in the UK and the substantial media coverage surrounding this.

We have seen a rise in telephone calls regarding children who may have symptoms.
We hope this video helps in understanding the virus and the symptoms to look out for.

The UK Health Security Agency have issued new guidance to parents, with Group A Strep infections at a slightly higher than expected level for this time of year.
Group A Strep is a common bacteria, which causes a range of infections including Scarlet Fever. While infections are usually mild, it is important to stay alert.
Parents are advised to trust their judgement, and should speak to their GP or call 111 if their child is poorly and getting worse.
Strep A symptoms to be aware of can include:
◾️your child is feeding or eating much less than normal
◾️your child has had a dry nappy for 12 hours or more or shows other signs of dehydration
◾️your baby is under 3 months and has a temperature of 38C, or is older than 3 months and has a temperature of 39C or higher
◾️your baby feels hotter than usual when you touch their back or chest, or feels sweaty
◾️your child is very tired or irritable
Always call 999 or go to A&E in an emergency. UKHSA have highlighted symptoms to keep an eye out for, including if your child:
🚨Is having difficult breathing, such as grunting noises or their tummy sucking under their ribs
🚨Pauses when they breathe
🚨Skin, tongue or lips turning blue in colour
🚨Is floppy and will not wake up, or stay awake

New Service - Starting 16th MAY

We are now providing video consultations with the leading online GP provider, @PushDoctor. This means there will be more availability for patients to access NHS GPs via video appointment, with the option to receive prescriptions, sick notes, and referrals which can be done anywhere that suits you and at a time that’s convenient to you.

The practice remains open as normal for telephone and face-to-face consultations; video appointments are simply an additional, complimentary service for those who would prefer to be seen from home, work or outside the surgery and are usually available quicker than face-to-face appointments. To access the service, you must have a mobile number and photo ID (more information in the link below). You will speak to a locum GP who will have access to Ashby Turn’s system and your record once gaining consent.
Click the link below to find more information about how video consultations work. We hope you welcome this expansion and modernisation of our services as openly and enthusiastically as we do.

To book an appointment or get additional information, please call reception on 01724 842051. πŸ“ž

Access to patient records through the NHS App

From April 2022, patients with online accounts such as through the NHS App will be able to read new entries in their health record. This applies to patients whose practices use SystmOne. Arrangements with practices which use Vision as the clinical system are under discussion. From April 2022, the GPIT system configuration is being changed so that existing online users have access to their future or prospective, health information entered after this change is made. New online users set up after this date will also receive this level of access by default.

COVID-19 Restrictions Update

Following the governments decision to lift all remaining COVID restrictions from today (24/02/2022), please see below guidance for Primary Care received from NHS England, on how this will be managed in healthcare settings.

''There are no immediate changes to requirements. This includes the requirement for staff, patients and visitors to wear a mask/face covering in healthcare settings. The consistent application of IPC measures, alongside the roll out of the vaccine programme and staff and patient testing, remains the most effective defence against the entry and spread of COVID-19 in healthcare settings.''

Therefore we are politely asking all staff, patients and visitors to continue to wear a mask in the building.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
